Security One Valuation Services - UPDATE

Earlier today Appraiser Active received a telephone call from Todd Barfield. As many of you know, Todd was/is one of the principals of Security One Valuation Services, LLC. Todd has been following Appraiser Active, the posts about Taylor, Bean & Whitaker, Security One, and the comments about appraisal fees and bounced checks.

Todd provided quite a bit of information and background along with some explanation about what is going on behind the scenes. Because he is interested in letting folks know what is going on, and no longer has control over the Security One website, I invited him to write a post for Appraiser Active. I expect he will take me up on the offer.

Information will be posted here on Appraiser Active just as soon as it becomes available.

Todd Barfield indicated he was going to provide some information and/or explanation. At this point, I've not heard any more from him.

Hello Fellow Appraisers, I too have 6 of these wonderful check and yes they have left me in quite a pickle. I figure I probly will never receive payment for the work completed nor the banking fees I have been charged by my bank. I am trying to make the best of this. I have spent my morning sending emails to all of my local Senators, Congress persons since they appear to be on the fence with the HR 3044. I also filed a complaint with Washington State Attorney General but no luck there (whimp, he will not have my vote again) I also placed a call to the Department of Financial Institutions, I will let you know if I make any head way. This is diffinately something to point out to the powers that be, it is a very strong make sense point that the AMCs should be required to deposit all funds into a Trust Account as well as hold a Surety Bond. If this was in place all of us would have checks on the way right now.

I too have a bounced check. I called Tayler, Bean & Whitaker (represented by Securityone AMC) at 866-369-6509 and they informed me that they are reviewing the situation and how to mke good on outstanding checks. She indicated that a decision would be forthcoming in about 2 weeks. I'm not overly hopeful, but who knows.

I called 866-369-6509 and spoke with a rep. She stated they are aware of the situation and that Securityone is out of business. They are working on getting checks recut. She also had me re-submit the invoice(s) in question. It may take a few weeks. At least someone is working on getting us paid. It's tough enough jumping through hoops for the AMC's, now we have to be bill collectors just to get our hard earned pay.

Colorado Appraiser's - for a bounced check, you may be entitled to 3 times the amount of the check plus attorney and court fees. Contact your local DA. I have one of these checks and that is exactly what I intend to do today!

I knew TB&W is going through bankruptcy but didn't know anything about appraiser's bounced checks. I have one outstanding invoice. I did call TB&W. Ramona instructed me to fax the invoice to her and it would be handled in bankruptcy court. Worth a try I guess.
